 Hey everyone !!


Today, i will give you all an information about caption. First of all what is the definition of caption?

Caption is a short text consist of additional information which available in the pictures/photos. Usually it’s located below the picture itself.

Caption text used to give further information related to a picture or simply just to decorate it to look better.


There are some types of caption text, here are some of them (^._.^)ﾉ

1. Cutline

This caption mentions about who are the subjects in the picture or photos and what activity they do.


2. Identification bar

The caption only mentions about subject in the picture


3. Summary

Full explanation about subject, activity, time detail, location detail and why it’s happened.


4. Expanded

Longer version of summary caption. This also include how the event occurred.


5. Quote

Consist of someone’s word which has been quoted related to the picture or photos.


6. Group Identification

Used to identify when subjects are more than one.



Characteristic of Caption:

Could be found above, below or beside a picture or photo.

Giving information about what is the picture or photo about.

Majority of caption text are short.

1. Exclamation

2. Question

3. Adjective Phrase

4. Personal Phrase


What is the caption function?

Helping readers or viewers to understand more information that might not be in photos or

videos.


Rule of Writing a caption?

1. Supply specific information (Answering 5WIH Question)

2. User present tense on the first sentence

3. Caption are written in a complete sentences

4. Clearly identify the people and location in the photo

5. Identify the person from left to right

How to a write caption text?

1. Observe the picture or video you will give the caption

2. Find out the message that will be sent from the picture before you write caption

3. Write sentence or phrase under the picture


Example of caption :


This caption believe that all our dreams will come true if we have the courage to persue them, even if we are old.

Silkworms live for only two or three days after laying eggs. About 36,000 to 50,000 eggs are laid, and these are carefully stored at the silkworm farm until they are ready to hatch. The eggs hatch into caterpillars, which feed on mulberry leaves. Soon, the caterpillars are ready to spin their cocoons. Not all caterpillars can spin silk cocoons. Only the caterpillars of a silkworm moth known as ‘Bombyx mari’ can do such spinning. This caterpillar has special glands which secrete liquid silk through its lower lip. The liquid produced later hardens to form tine strands. The caterpillar makes its cocoons using these strands. The threads on the outside of the cocoon are rough, while those inside are soft and smooth Some fully-spun cocoons are heated. This kills the pupa inside. The cocoons are then put into hot water to loosen the fine threads. Finally, these threads are reeled off the cocoons The length of unbroken thread produced by a single cocoon measures about one-and-a-half kilometers...
